koreydane Fresh off his win in the Summer And Music Buskerfest last weekend, singer/songwriter Korey Dane is among three more highly regarded local artists who have joined the musical lineup for the day-long Green Is Greater Festival on Sept. 18 at the Gaslamp Bar and Restaurant. Admission is free.

Dane’s musical stylings can tiptoe from folk to rock to Tin Pan Alley, that depth abetted by an on-stage entourage of five, and he has steadily become one of the most-popular artists on the local club scene.

Also just added to the bill are The Gospels and singer/songwriter Jenny Stockdale. They join a six-hour—noon to 6 p.m.—lineup that also includes The Potential Lunatics, The Evolution Theory, Heavy Water and Pete March.

Greater Long Beach is partnering with The Gaslamp and Heather Altman of the environmental blog EgretsNotRegrets.com to present the Green Is Greater Festival, a day of music, art, fundraising and celebration intended to foster unity among the area’s often-fragmented environmental movements—and perhaps bring new people into activism.

greenisgreaterad Environmentally oriented groups, clubs and even companies from Long Beach and surrounding cities are invited to set up booths —for free, table included—to distribute information, solicit volunteers, collect donations…whatever…while bands play, arts-and-crafters peddle and an incorrigible bunch gathers around the TVs to watch college football. Children? Bring ‘em. A kids’ crafts corner will keep them occupied.

The principle fundraising activity is a 33/33/33 drawing (tickets: $5) in which the pot is equally shared among winner, an environmental organization of his/her choice and the Egrets Not Regrets Scholarship Fund. Additionally, The Gaslamp will donate 10 percent of food-and-drink sales to attending organizations. The Gaslamp is located at 6251 E. Pacific Coast Highway in Long Beach (562) 596-4718.
