WATCH DALAI LAMA AT CARPENTER CENTER LIVE ON LBREPORT.COM AT 9:45 AM

His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, Tenzin Gyatso, is scheduled to be at Long Beach State this morning to receive a special human rights award from Amnesty International, and the event will be streamed live on LBReport.com beginning at 9:45 a.m.
The Tibetan spiritual leader cancelled two scheduled sold-out appearances—at the Long Beach Terrace Theater on Sunday and at UCLA on Monday—because of a sore throat.
However, the Dalai Lama addressed an audience at USC’s Galen Center on Tuesday night, where among other things he appeared to suggest that the United States was justified in killing Osama bin Laden. It was perhaps a surprising take from a man who he practices compassion to such an extent that he tries to avoid swatting mosquitoes.
The Dalai Lama’s comments Tuesday also present an interesting prelude to today’s sold-out event, at the Carpenter Performing Arts Center, where he is scheduled to receive the first-ever “Shine a Light on Human Rights” award and deliver a keynote address during the ceremony.
The event is in celebration of the 50th anniversary of Amnesty International USA.
To repeat, that’s Amnesty International.
The Dalai Lama will answer questions from Amnesty International USA student leaders and activists. The award ceremony will conclude with a human rights fair on the outdoor patio of the Carpenter Center.

I missed the part where he flexed for the crowd and kissed his biceps: “This one (SMACK) is Counter, and this one (SMACK) is Measures.” Could his approval of offing a human being be an indication of incipient senility? Is this really Buddhism? Seriously — are we sure this spiritual leader understood the question and responded with full mental capacity?
