thumbs_up STATE GRANT FINALLY COMES THROUGH FOR LONG-PLANNED BELLFLOWER PARK [ By Arnold Adler / Herald American ]

What’s great about it is after the children spend an hour running and playing, they can come back to the picnic basket, have a sandwich, lay down on the picnic blanket, and allow the highly carcinogenic ammonia emitted from countless catalytic converters from all the passing cars to gently reconfigure their lung efficiency. / JASON

ONE QUESTION … FOR ROBERT GARCIA: DID YOU KEEP SERVICE-YARD PROMISE? [ By Dave Wielenga]

Ask Garcia why the moratorium was not enforced and his district was flooded with un-permitted new truck yards. / LBTAXPAYER

Garcia conveniently fails to mention there was a MORATORIUM on new trucking facilities when he first became a Councilman. Soon afterwards, Garcia voted with other Council members to LIFT THE MORATORIUM as long as the CUP cost was increased to generate more revenue for the city. / MIKE RUEHLE

SECOND+PCH SAYS HAPPY HOLIDAYS… OH, AND EIR WILL BE TWO MONTHS LATE [ By Dave Wielenga ]

Oh brother! It’s still the “old boys’ network.” Shouldn’t Councilmember Delong recuse himself from voting, (if this comes before council) because of the ALL TOO OBVIOUS conflict of interest? And shouldn’t all emails and letters that Delong receives favoring this project be viewed with the greatest of suspicion? Seems to me that DeLong who claims he’s waiting for the new EIR and hasn’t made any decision yet (?) is doing a lot of aiding and abetting. / LARRY

Obviously Cliff Ratkovich and Carl Kemp realized their Second+PCH project was headed south and they bailed. They were the smart ones. Who wants to work for no pay or have angry investors? David Malmuth, urban developer, and the Lin family press on, leading their minions of realtors who hope to cash in on the condo sales. / CASEY

COMMIE GIRL: IT’S NOT TOO LATE TO HATE ON 2010—JUST WATCH ME! [ By Rebecca Schoenkopf ]

“Cock” is a great word, just sayin’. Oh yeah, and Ginni Thomas, what a tool! / LBCITYGIRL

LBPOA BLOCKS RELEASE OF LIST OF OFFICERS WHO FATALLY SHOT SUSPECTS [ Link from Los Angeles Times ]

Am I missing something here? Why is it important for the public to know the names of the officers involved in this tragedy? There will be time after a full investigation takes place to know who they are. / CONCERNED

The public has a right to know the names of the murderers it employs. Hopefully the judge will rule that the police union has no right to stand in between the city and a news organization seeking a legally allowed release of information. Bring on the Sheriff’s Department /HOWARDX

Maybe the City of Long Beach should consider firing the Long Beach Police Department and enlist the services of the Los Angeles County Sheriffs Department (a reputable law enforcement agency) and then you won’t have to be continually paying out on these lawsuits (that the tax payers ultimately pay, anyways), stemming from the antics of reckless police officers. It has worked in many other cities in the county and would be a money saving move, in light of the cost of lawsuits paid, and still being paid to date! Then you would not have to worry about being gunned down at your friend’s house, especially if you decide that you might want to water his lawn. / RICHARD ARMIJO
