Yeastie Boys It’s difficult to explain the attraction of the Yeastie Boys, a bunch of over-the-hill punk rockers who get on stage costumed as circus clowns … hmmm … unless the band is actually a circus whose clowns affect the music of punk so they can get on stage! Aha!

But wait—the attraction of that would be difficult to explain, too.

And so the Yeastie Boys’ Illogical Mystery Tour continues tonight, this time at Alex’s Bar, where at least the booker had the sense to present them in the context of their unnatural habitat—on a bill with American Jihad (they play in terrorist outfits), the Desperation Squad and a new outfit called The Derty.

The half-dozen colorfully incognito members of the Yeastie Boys tend toward a repertoire of punk classics—the Clash, the Sex Pistols and the Ramones—but usually leave room for some Soupy Sales … or shouldn’t we have told you about the pie-throwing?
