HEAR WHY JANET BALLANTYNE WANTS TO REPLACE SUJA LOWENTHAL ON CITY COUNCIL
By Greater Long BeachJanet Ballantyne explains why she is running for the Long Beach City Council seat currently occupied by Suja Lowenthal during a Feb. 15 appearance on Greater Long Beach Radio with Dave Wielenga.
Ballantyne works as a sponsor-relations manager for a financial services firm and serves as president of a large downtown Home Owner’s Association called 133 Promenade Walk. She expands on a list of dissatisfactions with Lowenthal that include frustration with the slow pace of economic development, a lack of transparency and a failure to listen to residents in a way that gives them a voice.
In the second half of the program, Ricardo Linarez outlines his campaign against Felton Williams for the District 2 seat on the Long Beach Unified School District Board of Education. Linarez works as a field representative for 9th district Long Beach City Councilmember Steve Neal and has two young children in the LBUSD. Williams is the sitting school board president.
The challengers to two of the most deeply ensconced incumbents in Long Beach government—Vice Mayor Suja Lowenthal and School Board President Felton Williams—will discuss what’s driving them to get into the faces of the status quo Wednesday at 7 p.m. on Greater Long Beach Radio with Dave Wielenga.
Janet Ballantyne, who works as a sponsor-relations manager for a financial services firm and serves as president of a large downtown Home Owner’s Association called 133 Promenade Walk, says she is trying to unseat Lowenthal in the 2nd district out of frustration with the slow pace of economic development, a lack of transparency and a failure to listen to residents in a way that gives them a voice.
Similarly, Ricardo Linarez says he decided to run for the District 2 seat occupied by Wlliams because he and the rest of the Long Beach Unified School District’s Board of Education has been increasingly non-responsive to suggestions from the community.
The challengers will be interviewed separately by Greater Long Beach Radio host Dave Wielenga, the publisher of GreaterLongBeach.com—Ballantyne from approximately 7 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and Linarez from about 7:30 p.m. until 8 p.m.
