{OPEN} HAS BEEN OPEN FOR SEVEN YEARS—AND IT’S SALE-A-BRATING
By Dave Wielenga
{open}, the little bookstore whose brackets have become pillars of culture and commerce on Fourth Street’s Retro Row, will turn seven years old on Nov. 15 and owners Sé Reed and Shea Gauer are celebrating today and Sunday with music, treats, sales and a chance to win $77 worth of books by purchasing $7 worth.
“We’ll be hosting our official anniversary/holiday party on December 11,” said Reed, who is also a web designer—she created the Greater Long Beach site you’re reading right now. “But we couldn’t let lucky 7 pass us by!”
{open} opened in the East Village arts district of downtown Long Beach before moving to Fourth Street.
{open} is located at 2226 E. Fourth Street. Phone: 562-499-OPEN. Website: thestoryofopen.com.

I really love going to old bookstores so I can actually hold the antique item in my hand prior to ordering at a lower price on ebay.
{OPEN} is a golden thread in the rich tapestry which is the LBC. I wish them many more anniversaries and thank them for being so relentlessly awesome.
