By Greater Long Beach
THE HEADLINE: Long Beach Aquarium’s beloved otter dies
THE STORY: About 12 years after being rescued, a sea otter named Summer died Wednesday, ending the Aquarium of the Pacific’s tender tenure with one of its most beloved animals.
P-T COMMENTERS RESPOND:
That is a sea otter? I hit one of those with a boat in Monterey one time—I thought it was a ship rat. / KEN
I’m sure the Aquarium can buy a few more with all the money the city is giving them. / RONALD
I’ve always wanted to catch one, kill it, and have it stuffed. If they would send me the carcass, it would save two steps. I’m ready to pick it up! / ICOULDUSESOMEHELP
Don’t we have better things to spend money on than diagnosing sea otters? Like helping poor kids get braces or something. / J MASE
