JENNI RIVERA INDUCTED INTO POLY HIGH WALK OF FAME
By Greater Long Beach
Jenni Rivera, an international Spanish-language singing and songwriting superstar who has sold more than 20 million albums worldwide, will be inducted into the Poly High School Walk of Fame during an 11 a.m. ceremony Tuesday in the school’s football stadium. The public is invited.
Rivera, who was raised in Long Beach, will become the fifth person to receive a star on the Poly Walk of Fame. Tennis legend Billie Jean King, former Mayor Beverly O’Neill, Grammy winner Thelma Houston and former pro football player Willie Brown and were the inaugural inductees on July 9.
A press release from 6th district Councilmember Dee Andrews included this quote from Rivera:
“Since I began recording music in 1993, I’ve received numerous awards and valuable recognitions. Every single one is very significant. However, to receive an acknowledgment from where ‘it all began’ … is the ultimate honor. Everywhere my music career has taken me I have always proudly mentioned that I am from Long Beach, and that I attended the home of Scholars and Champions, Poly High School. Thank you!”
Poly High School is located at 1600 Atlantic Ave. in Long Beach.
