A HOW-TO-GET-HEALTHIER FAIR IN NORTH LONG BEACH ON FRIDAY AT 4 PM
By Dave WielengaUnite The Night, a healthier-community fair filled with music, games, food, activities and fun, will be presented to North Long Beach residents Friday at the LB Police Department’s North Division Substation (Del Amo Blvd. and Atlantic Ave.) from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. It’s free.
The event was conceived and organized by the We Union team of blossoming community activists from the city’s Neighborhood Leadership Program, but its support comes from a major grant by Union Bank and donations of money and services from groups, businesses and individuals all over Long Beach. GreaterLongBeach.com is the media sponsor.
Local radio stations will provide the soundtrack to activities and opportunities ranging from a Bicycle Rodeo coordinated by Safe Moves to health screenings offered by the Lion’s Club to a variety of healthy snacks from Whole Foods to informational displays by the Long Beach Fire Department and the Red Cross to yoga to Zumba to more, more more!
Additionally, businesses located along the Atlantic Avenue Corridor are invited to set up tables to meet the community.

We Union is one of four teams in this year’s class of the “Neighborhood Leadership Program,” produced by the City of Long Beach Neighborhood Resources Center. The class teaches participants about communication, how to write grants, and promotes working with others to exact positive change in their neighborhoods.
