PRESSURE FROM AQUA-OLDSTERS SAVES THEIR WATER AEROBICS CLASSBy Los Cerritos Community Newspaper Group
The 315 seniors who packed a meeting of the ABC School Board earlier this month have stopped the cutback of their water aerobics program. Superintendent Gary Smuts, who had promised the aqua-oldsters that he would explore all possibilities to save their program, came through after considerable discussion with the City of Cerritos.
According to Smuts, the city has agreed to reduce the maintenance cost to help the school district keep the program in place.
“We are very fortunate to have a strong partnership with the City of Cerritos,” said Smuts. “However, the fee will be increased from the present $25 to $45 per trimester starting with the second trimester.”
